Fall always seems to come too soon. The weather is usually beautiful for a while yet, but as the colors become richer and more saturated, I realize that the sun is in a slightly different place than just a few weeks ago. The nights are getting longer, and I don’t miss the sunrise very often this time of year. These are all normal and good things, but underneath it all is the realization that the cooler weather is already here, and the cold weather is coming.
It seems like fall makes that long “to-do” list in my head appear. There are the obvious preparations for winter to take care of, and also the “just-in-case” repairs so we don’t have to do it in the middle of winter. But amid all the bustle and flurry of winter preparations, there are the delights of fall: Chilly mornings and warm afternoons, bonfires and hot chocolate, that last cookout or two before the grill gets packed away, and then the inevitable leaf piles, and through it all, gorgeous sunsets.
It does seem like the sunsets are the most beautiful during fall, doesn’t it? The skies amaze me when they display so many colors at once! Maybe the sunsets have to hurry and display all their colors before the year is over. (Because it’s on their “to-do” list!) Check out this crazy quilt of a sky:

Speaking of displaying things before the year is over, here are a couple of my new glass designs for fall. I will be having a few more than these, but this is what I’ve got ready now. These glasses can be purchased individually ($6) or as a set (4 for $20).

Each of these original designs is engraved on the glass with a rotary tool. I use the same basic reference drawing for each design, but since each glass is etched manually, there are some differences if you look closely. That’s how you know for sure they are done by hand!
They do take a while to make, so I need at least a week lead time (unless I have some ready to go), and the availability of any particular kind of glass depends on what I have in stock (but I have a pretty good selection right now).
