Today is kind of a milestone. Though it doesn’t seem like it has been this long, today marks the 150th sunrise I have photographed this year.
Each day I take many photos of the sunrise; sometimes, all I need is a break between the trees that shows the horizon, and I wait. But it’s more of a challenge when the mornings are cloudless: Those sunrises all look so similar; at least, they do during the same season. On those days, I try to find interesting ways or new locations from which to photograph the sunrise.
Today was a cloudless day, I thought. I planned to take a video of the sunrise (how cool would it be for everyone to be able to watch it rise!), so I found what I thought was a clear place on the horizon, and waited. (Clear horizons are almost impossible to find around here, but I praise God for the wonderful trees!)
But during the last ten minutes before the sun came up, I saw that there was a long, low bank of clouds that blocked the view. Once it got up behind the cloud, I found the sun peeking out like a cartoon character! (Maybe Beau will take inspiration from this!)

No sooner suggested, than Beau responded!

Once it cleared the cloud, the sun emerged, looking as majestic as ever.

Everyone wore their diamonds for the special occasion!

“Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun:”
