Tony recorded the following poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson several years ago. This is really just a small part of the longer poem, titled, “In Memoriam,” which was written over a period of 15 years.
Tennyson wrote this poem in memory of his friend, Arthur Henry Hallam, who died suddenly at the age of 22. They were very close friends, and Arthur was engaged to be married to Alfred’s sister. This particular section of the poem deals with the New Year, and the process of letting go that which is dying and over, and embracing God’s good that is sure to come.
