The Light is Different

Green turns yellow, then yellow is eclipsed by red as the chlorophyll is recycled into the tree, and the sugars become visible. See how the little leaf waves goodbye with her left hand?
Yellows and browns are becoming more obvious every day on the “walls” of the forest. Can you read the writing on the wall?
The autumn light creates a golden glow, even at broad midday. This picture was taken yesterday at Lewis Emery Park near Hillsdale, MI.

What a quiet, fragrant place to be as the sun warms the pine needles! (Lewis Emery Park, Hillsdale)
Time is shorter than we know. I was puzzled by the green “berries” in this picture until I realized they were immature crab apples. The tree must have died during the summer, before the apples had a chance to mature.
“Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)

If one looks at the seasons of the year as seasons of life (spring is youth, summer is full maturity, autumn is older adulthood, and winter is the end of life), then we are past the point of maturity, and reaching the end. It feels like that is true for the world, doesn’t it? Everything seems to be reaching the climax and/or winding down.

The jig is up, the games are over, and amazing revelations are taking place. War continues and escalates, and the time is growing so short as to seem almost gone. What are we to do under such conditions? Well, Jesus told us that despite how it feels, “it is not for (us) to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. . . .” (Acts 1:7) Our job is to stay focused on the work that we have been given, and just keep doing what he directs us to do.

So we are! I am at work on the final stages of a new story, and we will be sharing that soon, as God wills. Beau is drawing his next “Beau’s Shorts” installment, and Tony is even back in the recording studio. We hope to have some new offerings on the way soon.

I want to thank each one of you who has encouraged and supported us; especially those who have made a special trip in to see Jim and speak with him. You are a part of everything we do; your encouragement helps us keep going when we feel discouraged! Thank you!

Jesus said “the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Luke 10:2) For “night is coming, when no one can work.” (John 9:4)

Consider yourself encouraged to continue with whatever work God has directed you to do. You can do it, for God will provide strength, courage, or whatever supplies you need; He can even supply time! Thanks for reading, and have a productive day!
