It’s hard to fret about all the crazy things I see and hear from that digital world when the real world is all around me, and the great sky stretches above me like a lovely blanket. The sun warms me during the day and the moonbeams thrill me at night.

No human voice breaks the solitude at night; what a wonder to stand outside and hear only the rustle of the wind through the leaves! People are all around me, but they are sleeping. And while the night creatures are all busy, they work mostly in silence. But if you listen very carefully in the dark with your heart open, you might understand the whisper from God: “I love you!”
It is getting colder now, but I continue to take pictures as I can, and just be out there.

When I am outside, I can finally think again. While I appreciate God’s “book” of nature, my mind clears. My thoughts slow down when I spend time looking at what my Father has made. What a luxury to stop and just look!

I notice the “small things” of life: A tiny creature moving around the rim of a flower, a beautiful seed, or a cloud. They won’t earn a thing in the stock market, or win someone’s affection, or help organize my piles of stuff. . .

. . .but the more attention I pay to these “little” natural things, the less impressive money, or fame, or material possessions becomes. My worries shrink, and I can relax and just be. I will have grown “sufficiently small,” as President Teddy Roosevelt said when looking up at the stars at night, so that sleep comes easily.
Being in nature is the antidote to the things of man.

I hope on this day of rest that you will take time to look at the beauty around you. I am sure it will do as much good as any tonic you could take. We are lifted, and reminded, that we come from the Father of Lights, who only gives good gifts. He made all of this beauty. And then He put us here.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends. The colorful sights you see and the intricate instruments you see with are both provided courtesy of the One who loves you!
