Before the snowstorm begins

On Sunday night, I checked the skies just before I went to bed and saw this beautiful halo around the almost-full moon.

“Halo, Moon!”

Then last night, the gorgeous winter pastel palette was on full display to celebrate the full moon! I asked the guys to join me, and we all jumped in the truck and headed for flat country so we could see it better.

The full moon in the eastern sky last night.
The man in the moon is looking up! (We were doing that, too.)
Still looking up, but now the colors are darker, and the moon was sporting a dark purple “cloud-wrap.”
Beau was riding shotgun, so he got this picture of the setting sun heading west. See the faint pink mist just under the top bank of clouds?

I continued to look to the east, and was amazed to see the colors radiating off the moon against the clouds.

The moon was so bright as the sky got darker; but see how warm yellow it glows?
The clouds started to close in, and the glow became pinkish-peach.
The full moon, wreathed in clouds!
Looks like the cover of a Victorian mystery novel, doesn’t it?
Perhaps titled “The Moon over the Heathers.”

So all we can see right now is gray and white, as we wait for the snow to begin. I don’t know about you, but when Jim gets home, I am thinking we should sit on the window seat with a cup of hot chocolate and watch the snow pile up. I just hope he gets home before it starts!

I just wanted to share some of the beautiful pictures we have been taking. Be warm and joyful tonight!
