Time For A Turn

This past weekend was the last time we will see mid-to-upper 80’s in Michigan this year, I think!

Fall is the time for eye candy: Did you see the beautiful full moon?

We saw it in the country. . .

Full moon over a field

. . .and we saw it in the beautiful city of Goshen, IN. See it peeking around the church steeple?

In case you missed it, follow the arrow.

I much prefer the country view, but it gives a bit of perspective to see it near the steeple. It was huge!

There is something about a hazy country moon, isn’t there?

We enjoyed a beautiful walk on Sunday–at our favorite park, of course.

Lewis Emery Park in Hillsdale. Lot’s ‘o lakes!

Some of the birds are already starting to get ready to migrate. Usually, staffing is reduced when the customers begin to thin out. But to our surprise, Park Security swelled the ranks!

The usual crew still manned the checkpoints.
But this one, for example, was definitely new.
We noticed some were there on work release.
And some of the new recruits were even sleeping on the job!

So when they chased us down the road, it might have been an over-reaction out of embarrassment. But I wonder if the new guys are a bad influence.

Mr. Darcy loyally guards Tony while he–well–while he sits.
Not to be outdone, Beau. . .sits, too. (Actually, he started it.)

Though I love to see the beautiful fall colors, I am always reluctant to see the green leaves die, or to see the flowers going away. I don’t think I am alone in this. We found a bunch of wildflowers in full bloom, and a honeybee was working away–even on Sunday!

See the sweet honeybee in the middle?

My longing for the waning summer was reinforced by the presence of “Forget me not’s” all along the brook.

I am amazed at the long season these little wildflowers have! They bloom with the tulips, and now, here in October, they are still smiling at us.
A red-winged blackbird treated us to a farewell concert!
(Several other birds refused to wait their turn.)
A pretty newcomer dropped by, but was too nervous to stay and meet Mr. Darcy.
The little brook is dry and full of leaves. . .
. . .and the trees know what time it is.

Fall’s revelry has come.

We harvested the last of the peppers this morning, and took the green tomatoes so we can make mincemeat pie, but how I hate to take the unripe fruit! It’s so true that we only have so long, and we must do all we can in the time that is left to us.

“Work, for the night is coming, when no man can work.” (John 9:4)

The Pirate’s Bride is almost ready. I will update you on that soon.

Have a productive day, my friends, but it’s OK to take a break. If there are any roses left, stop and smell them. And as for the leaves, they go out in a blaze of glory. Enjoy God’s visual blessings! Much love to you!
