In the first interaction she has with Him, the woman caught in adultery addresses Jesus as “Lord.” She was saying, in other words, “I submit myself to you as my ruler. I am not defending myself or disputing your authority. I humbly submit to you.”
What does God ask of any of us, except to do that? Our ultimate Judge is God, and His goal, while we are still here on this earth, is for as many as people as possible to move under His Lordship and protection.
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:17)
