Spring Storms

I was reminded this week to go back over many of the promises the Lord has made to us in His word. I was thinking of the promise He made to Noah in Genesis 9: 8 – 16, that He would never again destroy the earth with a worldwide flood. And His token of that is, of course, the beautiful rainbow that often appears after a storm.

The 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language by Noah Webster is a wonderful resource for the historical perspective of an English word. It shows what our ancestors were thinking when they said the same word we are still saying now, nearly 200 years later.

Take time for encouragement!

You know what always tells the truth? Nature. A blade of grass can’t lie. The song of the red-winged blackbird is always true. And what I witness in the natural world tells me that good things are happening under the surface. Yes, right here under my nose!

Leap Day, 2024!

Spring is a good name for this season of emergence from winter, because it behaves a little bit like a spring, doesn’t it? The temperature goes way up, hovers for a moment, then dives to an extreme low. The clouds come, then the next thing you know, it’s clear! Perfect time for ice cream! (We’ll use any excuse!)
